What is a CGH?

A computer-generated hologram (CGH) is a diffractive structure that is designed on a computer to generate any desired wavefront. A CGH is a binary type of diffractive structure.

• A CGH can also be thought of as a freeform grating (with varying grating period and orientation across its aperture).
• Another way to think of a CGH is as a contour map of wavefront modification.
